Our Philosophy
At Gan Chabad, our Jewish Reggio-Inspired Preschool Curriculum offers a dynamic and experiential approach to Jewish education. It is designed to engage and stimulate the whole child, fostering higher-level learning and skill development. Inspired by the Reggio philosophy and incorporating elements of Montessori, our approach aligns beautifully with our belief in experiential, child-centered learning. We place a strong emphasis on social-emotional development in thoughtfully designed learning environments, infused with Jewish values and traditions, enriching each unit with cultural depth and significance.
In our classrooms, activities are carefully crafted to encourage scientific exploration, creativity, collaboration, individuality, confidence, and joy. Our curriculum provides a well-rounded educational experience that supports and empowers teachers while allowing every child to discover and grow at their own pace.
Gan Chabad’s Jewish Reggio-Inspired approach nurtures curiosity, creativity, and compassion through play-based, process-focused, values-driven learning experiences for every child.

Handwriting and Early Literacy Programs
Mat Man (Toddlers–Preschool) Our Mat Man program introduces young children to letters, numbers, and basic concepts through a fun, interactive approach. Using the Mat Man character, toddlers and preschoolers engage in hands-on activities that build early literacy, fine motor skills, and a love for learning.
Handwriting Without Tears (JK Prep Class)
For our JK Prep students, Handwriting Without Tearsprovides a structured, developmentally appropriate approach to learning proper letter formation, writing skills, and fine motor development. This program sets the foundation for confident, neat handwriting and early academic success
Environment – The Classroom as the Third Teacher
At Gan Chabad, we embrace the philosophy that the classroom itself is a “third teacher.” Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our learning spaces are thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and wonder. Every area, material, and display encourages children to explore, ask questions, and engage deeply with their world—turning the environment into a rich, inspiring partner in learning.
Shabbat Celebration at Gan Chabad
Each week, our Gan Chabad children experience the beauty and joy of Shabbat through stories, songs, and meaningful traditions. Children take turns dressing up as Shabbat Ima and Abba, leading the blessings, lighting the candles, and baking delicious challah to bring home. These joyful experiences help children connect deeply with Jewish life and values, fostering a sense of pride, belonging, and community

Jewish Holidays
Celebrating Jewish holidays is a meaningful and joyful part of life at Gan Chabad. Throughout the year, children learn about each holiday’s traditions, customs, and values through hands-on experiences, stories, songs, and creative activities. From making a beautiful menorah for Chanukah to dressing up for Purim, children connect to the holidays in ways that are engaging and age-appropriate.
Holiday celebrations are shared with families through special events and programs in partnership with Uptown Chabad, including gatherings for the High Holidays and other festive occasions. These experiences help children develop a strong sense of Jewish identity, pride, and community while creating lasting memories together.
